RDS Practicum Student Talks About Lessons from the Lab

On August 25, RDS summer practicum student Allison Langham gave a talk entitled, “Research data management (RDM): Convincing a lab group they really need to manage their data.” The talk was a culmination of her summer practicum and discussed the practicum project and lessons learned from the experience.  First, Allison helped the lab identify its current data practices. She located existing publication data on the lab’s current storage servers and from those findings, made suggestions for improved data management practices that the lab can incorporate into their workflows as they move to using a new data storage server.

We hope you will benefit from viewing Allison’s slide deck, which shares many best practices for working with research data in a lab setting. If you have any questions on how to put these ideas into practice, feel free to contact RDS!
