Resources for Working and Learning From Home

Departments and offices across UW-Madison are rapidly responding to the COVID-19 crisis by shifting services to online platforms. UW-Madison’s Libraries and the Department of Information Technology have both been central to these efforts by providing a wealth of resources for students, faculty, researchers, and staff as they transition to teaching, learning, and working remotely. Below are some of the security measures, tools, and suggestions you can use to help you adjust to these new circumstances.

Security

Libraries

UW-Madison Libraries have created a dashboard at the top of their homepage you can use to connect with resources, contact librarians, and access their remote services.

Learning Remotely

DoIT has also assembled a wealth of technology resources for Learning Remotely to help students transition to online instructional formats. These resources include:

  • A list of tools you need, including internet access, a computer, and an internet browser
  • How to check out a laptop
  • Instructions on how to download software such as the Microsoft Office Suite from the Campus Software Library
  • Accessing productivity tools such as G Suite and Office 365
  • Tips on how to login to and use Canvas as a hub for all your remote learning
  • Instructions on how to access and use online communication tools, including:
